A visit with the specialist at the liver clinic tomorrow. Still keeping a close watch on the blood cell counts, but the virus is currently undetectable. Does that mean I can go off treatment early? Oh no. It is still lurking in the hard to reach cells of your organs. 36 more weeks. 252 more days. 6,052 hours...but counting doesn't make the excruciating minutes go by any faster.
The GP opened a can of worms, disagreed with the psychiatrist at the liver clinic about the dose of his antidepressant. Been waiting three months to get back in to see the psychiatrist...meanwhile, the staff psychologist recommended switching to a different antidepressant, one that is not metabolized by the liver and will therefore not interact with protease inhibitors. But the GP didn't like that choice due to bone marrow suppression, further threats to the poor blood cells struggling for recognition in the shallow veins. Evidently, all SSRIs are going to affect platelet function, since the platelets require serotonin to aggregate.
Dilemma. Stay on the much needed antidepressants to mentally survive the treatment or cease in order to physically survive the treatment. Not much of a dilemma in that context...so off he went.
Probably do us both good if *I* start taking them...but considering the abrasive social atmosphere currently permeating my household, homicidal fantasies are not sufficiently unwarranted as to be considered beyond the scope of normality.
